Project Worker

For the Development Team, Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), University of Oulu for the period of 27 October 2026 – 31 December 2027 with a 40% work contract.

Are you the enthusiastic and efficient Project Worker we are looking for to help us with turning data, participation, and partnerships into real opportunities and impact for students and companies?

As a project worker, you will join ITEE’s IKAPO project, which aims to optimise ICT expert resources and strengthens innovation capacity in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). IKAPO’s new partnership programme and model for recruitment, work-life encounters, and alumni cooperation foster interaction and channel students’ skills to create value and opportunities for both students and MSMEs. Co-funded by the European Union, the project boosts international students’ career paths, professional development, and smoother employment in North Ostrobothnia.

We are looking for…

A Project Worker for ITEE’s Development Team. As a project worker, you will:

  • Develop websites, company collaboration platforms, AI-powered analytics solutions, and digital tools supporting the goals of the IKAPO project, including the ITEE SPOT collaboration platform.
  • Participate in identifying company needs and promoting student projects (e.g. within the ArkiDigi initiative www.ikapo.fi/arkidigi-brochure), traineeships, thesis assignments, and other forms of university-industry collaboration within IKAPO project.
  • Compile and deliver company-specific analytics and insights that support collaboration opportunities, skills matching, responding to companies’ recruitment needs, and project impact assessment.
  • Support interaction between students and companies through events and programme activities that strengthen student engagement, employability, and university-industry collaboration.
  • Produce and share impactful content and means of engagement (e.g. event infos, slide decks, web articles, social media posts)
  • Work closely with student communities, staff, and external partners of the project/faculty.

What we expect from you

  • Ongoing, well-progressing studies in one of the degree programmes of the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) at the University of Oulu.
  • Strong analytical, development, and IT skills, along with the ability to utilise AI tools for compiling, managing, and analyzing large datasets; knowledge on efficient use of AI agents; ability to administer and evolve e.g. Wix/SharePoint sites and other web-based tools (iteespot.ikapo.fi & course-matcher-pro.ikapo.fi).
  • Positive, proactive mindset, self‑direction, and solid problem‑solving skills; strong teamwork skills in an international working environment.
  • Fluent communication and confident presenting in English; ability to produce clear, high‑quality content in English and draft working translations into Finnish when needed.
  • Previous experience in planning and delivering programmes and or events. Strong organisational skills and a systematic, goal-oriented approach, with proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks to achieve impactful outcomes.
  • Experience with survey tools (e.g., Webropol, Microsoft Forms) and with visualising & reporting findings (graphs, infographics, presentations).
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and image/publishing tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Understanding of student wellbeing and a motivation to facilitate students’ smooth transition to working life; familiarity with student communities and communication channels to ensure engagement and impact.

  • Knowledge of Finland’s industry landscape and ITEE’s core technology domains
  • Interest in supporting micro and SME companies through well‑scoped student project, traineeship and thesis placements that create mutual value.
  • Video creation/editing skills.
  • Developing Finnish language skills.
  • Driving licence and a possibility to use a car.

Salary

The position is part time (40 %) and fixed term from 27 October 2026 to 31 December 2027.

The salary will be based on the levels 3 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary in comparable part-time positions is typically 1000-1100 € permonth (before taxes).

A trial period of 6 months is applied to the position.
