Job Summary
The Personal Support Specialist (PSS) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. The PSS is responsible for assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and promoting their independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is skilled in behavior management and has experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

Duties

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Monitor and record vital signs to ensure the health and safety of clients.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the quality of life for clients.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop personalized care plans.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Document care provided and any changes in client condition accurately and timely.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay current on best practices in personal support services.

Requirements

  • Certification or training in First Aid is preferred.
  • Experience in social work or a related field is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and basic healthcare practices is essential.
  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ADLs and the ability to assist clients effectively is required.
  • Experience in behavior management techniques is beneficial.
  • A compassionate approach towards working with individuals with developmental disabilities is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are necessary.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
