Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for an experienced registered Psychologist to join our Adult Community Mental Health Team. Delivering mental health services to the whānau of North Taranaki you will be joining a multi-disciplinary team working alongside Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Worker, Nurses and Psychiatrists.
The role includes psychological assessment and psychotherapy for service users who are experiencing acute and/or severe mental health difficulties, facilitating therapy groups and offering teaching, supervision and consultation to colleagues. There are three other experienced psychologists currently employed in this team along with a yearly intern psychologist role.
Along with your colleagues this role also provides Psychology services for the inpatient mental health ward and receives referrals for crisis/brief intervention work from our Assessment & Brief Care Team

Moū - About you
- Permanent full-time Clinical Psychologist with current Practicing Certificate.
- Experience in, and passion for, working with whai ora experiencing significant mental health distress
- Excellent assessment skills, particularly in undertaking neuropsychological assessments and interpretation.
- Adept therapeutic skills and knowledgeable in a variety of therapeutic modalities.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication & relationship building skills
- Flexibility to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical leadership and supervision within the team.
- Understanding and application of the principles of the treaty of Waitangi, with a culturally safe and appropriate approach to practice
- Display enthusiasm to embrace new ideas and innovative thinking towards service delivery.
