Public Health Officer (Public Health Intelligence)
The Communicable Diseases Agency is a new government agency that is being established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to oversee Singapore’s communicable disease preparedness, prevention and control, surveillance, risk assessment and outbreak response.

You will be part of a team that carries out epidemic intelligence, risk assessment and risk communications activities pertaining to global infectious disease threats, to support Singapore’s public health response and preparedness for communicable diseases.

You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

What will you be working on

  • You will undertake daily horizon scanning to identify, verify and triage potential public health signals, events, and threats worldwide, including on weekends and public holidays.

  • As part of a team, you will conduct regular and ad-hoc risk assessments of verified public health events and threats and develop relevant risk communications collaterals to be disseminated to public and private stakeholders.
  • You will communicate and liaise with overseas health authorities and international health organizations to fulfil Singapore’s international public health responsibilities and obligations, including overseas travel to participate in relevant meetings and workshops.
  • You may be required to undertake project work, and other administrative, developmental, procurement and fiscal responsibilities.

[What are we looking for]

  • Minimally a recognised tertiary education preferably a Bachelor’s degree in medicine, veterinary medicine, health science, public health or related fields
  • Work experience in public health-related field would be an added advantage
  • Detail-oriented
  • Objective and analytical mindset
  • Resilient under pressure
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Must be able to work on weekends and public holidays.
  • Must be able to work outside office hours especially during outbreaks and other times of crisis.
  • As part of the shortlisting process for this role, candidates may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
