Duties and Responsibilities
The intern is under the direct supervision of direct supervision of the Digital Communications Assistant in the UNRIC. The social media intern's duties will include the following:- Use the UNRIC Trello Boards to plan, create and curate content ahead of time;- Collect and collate multimedia information from different departments and organizations;- Monitor various sources for new content and information about what is happening in and around the UN on a given week;- Edit and subtitle news videos for UNRIC’s social media channels, using dedicated software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Canva); create visuals, quote cards and other materials as requested using online tools (such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop);- Attend press conferences, meetings and events in Brussels to gather quotes and take photos and videos which can be used in social media posts;- Draft posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn;- Research trends and posts from partners and suggest retweets/reposts; monitor the social media accounts for followers' comments and questions, and flag them to the team;- Take an active role in the live coverage of events taking place in Brussels;- Draft monthly reports reflecting performance of the UNRIC’s social media accounts;- Carry out other tasks as requested.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in one or more of the following languages is also desirable: Danish, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
