Public Relations Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Public Relations Officer with 2 years of relevant experience to join our dynamic communications team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications, with a strong interest in media relations, communications, and public image management. You will assist in executing PR strategies, managing external communications, and fostering positive relationships between the organization and the public.

This role offers excellent opportunities for growth within the PR and communications field, allowing you to work across various channels and projects, from media outreach to event management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with key media contacts, including journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communications materials to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.
  • Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and ensure the organization’s messaging is consistent and aligned with its public image.
  • Monitor and track media coverage to assess PR campaign effectiveness and media sentiment.
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and feature articles to support PR efforts.
  • Contribute to the creation of content for internal and external communication channels, such as newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Help with the preparation and proofreading of speeches, presentations, and talking points for senior management and executives.
  • Support the planning and execution of PR events, including press conferences, product launches, corporate functions, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics, handle guest lists, manage invitations, and work with vendors and other external partners to ensure events run smoothly.
  • Capture media coverage and report on event outcomes to demonstrate return on investment (ROI).
  • Assist in managing the company’s social media accounts, including drafting posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring interactions.
  • Ensure the tone and style of social media communications align with the company’s brand and messaging.
  • Track social media metrics and generate reports to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and content.
  • Assist in crafting internal communications, such as employee newsletters, notices, and announcements.
  • Help maintain the company’s internal communication channels to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Monitor public sentiment and brand perception, and escalate any issues or potential crises to senior management.
  • Support crisis communication strategies when necessary, ensuring that the company responds quickly and appropriately to any public relations challenges.
  • Maintain and update media lists, databases, and PR records.
  • Assist with budgeting and tracking expenses for PR campaigns and events.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, presentations, and other PR-related tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications.
  • Relevant certifications or coursework in communications, public relations, or media studies is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, or media relations.
  • Prior experience working in a PR agency or corporate communications department is an advantage.
  • Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Basic understanding of media relations, public relations campaigns, and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing environments and new tasks.
  • An interest in media, communications, and brand management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $2,500.00 - $4,000.00 per month
