We’re Hiring: Public Relations Specialist
Location: Louisville, KY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Company: 1st Step Recovery – A Client-Centered Recovery Program
Are you a people person who thrives on building strong relationships and spreading powerful messages? 1st Step Recovery is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to be the face of our program in the community and online. We want someone who can help us grow our presence, build partnerships, and make sure everyone knows who we are and what we do.
This is more than a desk job—you’ll be out in the community, creating connections that matter and sharing stories that inspire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent 1st Step Recovery at community events, networking meetings, and public functions
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, media outlets, and referral sources
- Create and share engaging content on social media to reflect our mission and services
- Write press releases, blog posts, and promotional materials that highlight our impact
- Develop a public relations strategy to grow awareness of our program in the Louisville area
- Promote a positive image of recovery and reduce stigma through thoughtful messaging
- Collaborate with internal staff to share client success stories and organizational updates
What We’re Looking For:
- Excellent communication skills—both in person and in writing
- Outgoing, confident, and comfortable engaging with diverse audiences
- Experience with social media management and content creation
- Knowledge of (or passion for) recovery, mental health, or nonprofit work
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Previous experience in PR, communications, or community engagement preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
