POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Buyer (Supervisor) is responsible for overseeing procurement activities across assigned commodities while providing day-to-day supervision and direction to the buying team. This role combines hands-on purchasing execution with team leadership, ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with production and project requirements.
The incumbent plays a key role in driving supplier performance, enforcing procurement discipline, and ensuring cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Project Management, and Production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Sourcing
- Lead and coordinate procurement activities across the team for assigned commodities, including RFQs, supplier selection, and order placement.
- Set priorities based on Procurement director’s direction and inputs.
- Monitor the workload and ensure accountability by verifying progress in weekly basis.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to support production schedules and project timelines.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
- Monitor market trends, supplier capacity, and risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies.
- Maintain accurate system data (pricing, lead times, supplier information).
Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) and address issues proactively.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to resolve non-conformities and drive corrective actions.
- Identify and qualify alternative suppliers to mitigate risk.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to Buyers.
- Assign workload based on commodities and business priorities.
- Ensure consistency in procurement practices, processes, and decision-making across the team.
- Train, coach, and develop Buyers, including onboarding and continuous skill development.
- Reinforce accountability, follow-ups, and execution discipline within the team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Production, and Planning to align procurement with operational needs.
- Participate in project meetings to ensure material readiness and risk mitigation.
- Support resolution of supply chain issues impacting production or delivery commitments.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Drive standardization of purchasing processes and support SOP development.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to procurement workflows.
- Support data visibility and reporting (KPIs, supplier performance, cost savings).
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit readiness.
- Support cost control initiatives and budget adherence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team is strongly preferred.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.
- Experience with ERP systems and purchasing tools.
- Bilingual (French & English)
- Demonstrate a “one team” mindset in daily interactions

- Ability to travel freely, to visit different suppliers

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
