Overall Purpose of Job:
Childcare Worker
To work with children from our creche, preschool and afterschool service. The childcare assistant will be responsible to assist the room leader in the day-to-day running of the room and ensuring that there is a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families. The childcare room leader will report to the childcare manager and in his/her absence the assistant manager or Deputy CM
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring each child is safe, happy and nurtured in our creche, preschool and afterschool service.
To be accountable to the Room Leader in discharging the duties and tasks assigned each day.
To support the implementation of a curriculum plan that fosters physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social skills, taking account of individual child needs
Maintaining the children’s records, for example, attendance, accidents & incidents
Reporting safety and welfare concerns to the Room Leader /childcare manager
Observation and recording of individual children’s progress.
Ensuring equipment and materials are age appropriate
Creating a play based environment while promoting Aistear and Siolta
Maintaining a clean and tidy environment at all times, for example disinfecting surfaces, mopping floors, washing toys
Completing daily cleaning checklists and risk assessments when necessary
Collection of fees from parents, ensuring a receipt is given each time
Participating in training and development organised by the childcare manager
- Attending staff meetings, room meetings and supervisions when required
- Ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to as agreed by the Childcare Manager and the Board of Management.
Childcare Room Leader
To work with children in either our creche, preschool or afterschool service. The childcare room leader will be responsible in the day-to-day running of the room and ensuring that there is a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families. The childcare room leader will report to the childcare manager and in his/her absence the assistant manager or Deputy CM
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Working closely on a day-to-day basis with the Childcare Manager, Assistant Manager and Deputy CM
General supervision, guidance and support of all staff working in the room
Co-ordination of the day’s activities (meals, free play, structured play etc)
To create a positive working atmosphere among all staff
Ensuring each child is safe, happy and nurtured in either our crèche, preschool or afterschool service
Support and train new and existing childcare staff
Ensuring good communication and positive relationships with each child’s family To be involved in the development and implementation of a curriculum plan that fosters physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social skills, taking account of individual child needs
Ensuring delegating and rotation of tasks and duties to other staff members who work in the room.
Ongoing consultation with staff team members to ensure that the room is kept in a safe, clean condition for example disinfecting surfaces, mopping floors, washing toys and that care of children is placed first in all decision making.
Accurate record keeping pertaining to an accident, incident, injury, illness or medication and child attendance
Ensuring activities, equipment and materials are age appropriate for the children being cared for
Creating a play based environment while promoting Aistear and Siolta
Reporting safety and welfare concerns to the childcare manager or in their absence their delegate
Maintenance of records pertaining to observations of individual children’s progress

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From €15.00 per hour
