SUMMARY
Under the direction of the General Manager. The Quality Manager directs all quality policies, procedures, and practices to conform with appropriate quality standards. Adhere to quality control plan, with specific parameters developed pursuant to customer demands. Hands on position, required to be on the manufacturing floor at least fifty percent of the day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Customer Service, Sales and Suppliers to establish initial customer specifications.
Partner with suppliers to develop improvements to existing systems where necessary.
Set up specifications of line parameters to ensure 100% conformance to customer requirements.
Set up ISO policies and procedures as required by ISO manager.
Ensure corrective action effectiveness and assist plant with identifying quality improvements.
Work with plant operations and customer service and sales to resolve claims and issues.
Oversee line runs new and established, to ensure conformance to standards.
Troubleshoot line operations to eliminate defects and prevent them from re-occurring.
Make shipping decisions based on tolerance and customer knowledge.
Maintain and improve quality calibration program.
Maintain vendor technical and safety data sheets.
Daily interaction with Operations Manager, plant employees to maintain line efficiencies.
Develop, train, direct, coach, evaluate and manage quality department.
Interact with maintenance team to help maintain the quality of material.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and Bachelor of Science Degree. Work experience may be considered in lieu of Degree.
Minimum of 5 years of managing a quality department in a coil coating environment preferred.
Implementing quality control procedures in a technical manufacturing environment.
Demonstrate experience working with suppliers.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write in English. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Experience communicating in a professional manner on the telephone and in person.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
