Rc & Metal Structure Designer Cum Qs (Strictly Minimum 3years Of Local Experience In Singapore)

1. RC & Metal Structure Design:

  • Structural Analysis and Design: Use engineering software (like STAAD Pro, ETABS, or SAP2000) to analyze and design RC and metal structures, ensuring they meet building codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Material Selection: Determine appropriate materials for the structures based on design needs, cost, and performance. For RC structures, this includes selecting concrete grades and reinforcement specifications; for metal structures, choosing steel grades and profiles.
  • Load Calculations: Perform load-bearing capacity calculations for buildings, bridges, or other structures, considering factors like dead loads, live loads, wind loads, and seismic forces.
  • Design Codes and Standards: Ensure designs comply with local and international codes such as AISC, BS, IS, or Eurocodes.

2. Structural Detailing:

  • Drawing Creation: Prepare detailed construction drawings for reinforced concrete and steel structures, including plans, sections, elevations, and connection details.
  • Connection Detailing: Specify how components such as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations should be connected, ensuring structural integrity.
  • Reinforcement Detailing: Provide clear instructions on reinforcement placement, sizes, spacing, and laps, along with specifications for concrete mix designs.
  • Shop Drawings: Coordinate with the fabrication team to create shop drawings for metal structures, ensuring precise dimensions for cutting and assembly.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Work with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure the structural design fits into the overall building design.

3. Quantity Surveying (QS):

Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for both RC and metal structures.

  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Prepare and manage BOQs, listing quantities of materials and services needed for the project, ensuring accurate take-offs from drawings and specifications.
  • Tendering and Procurement Support: Assist in preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Project Budget Management: Track project costs, monitor budget adherence, and provide regular cost reports to ensure financial control.
  • 4. Project Management and Coordination:
  • Site Supervision and Quality Control: Visit the construction site to monitor the implementation of structural designs, ensuring construction follows drawings and specifications.
  • Scheduling and Progress Tracking: Help in planning and scheduling construction activities, ensuring timely completion of structural works.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues during design or construction.

*

  • 5. Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations and standards, considering the long-term durability and stability of the structures.
  • Identify and mitigate any potential risks during the design or construction phase.

*

6. Software Tools and Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, SAP2000).
  • Familiarity with project management software for scheduling and cost tracking (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, detailing, and construction practices.
