ROLE SUMMARY:

King's Infant School is seeking to appoint a Reception teacher with possible EYFS Lead to join us on a temporary basis (maternity cover) in February / March 2025.

The role of the Reception Teacher is to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching and to help raise standards of achievement for all pupils. To enable young children to make good progress in their learning by building upon the skills they have and to assist all pupils to develop emotional security, self-belief and mature social skills. The Reception Teacher will have outstanding knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Framework and be able to recognise the unique child and plan for their development using both the indoor and outdoor environment. To encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school, and enable pupils to become more independent learners.


In addition to the role of Reception Teacher, the candidate may carry out the role of EYFS leader. The candidate will have previous experience of leading on a subject or phase and a solid understanding of the EYFS framework.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main aims of the post of the Reception Teacher are to:

  • Support pupils, staff and curriculum.
  • To plan and assess for pupils.
  • Maintain exceptional relationships with other staff, pupils and families.
  • To contribute professionally to the whole school development.
  • To plan and teach phonics using Read Write Inc.
  • To plan and teach maths and science using White Rose

The main aims of the EYFS Leader post are to:

  • Support the policies, ethos and vision of the school and actively promote high levels of achievement in the Early Years phase with children from 12 months to 5 years.
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership and management of the school.
  • Formulate and promote the aims and objectives of the Early Years phase.
  • Ensure the requirements for the Early Years phase, including the arrangements of assessment are met.
  • Obtain the progress of pupils and report evaluated data to the headteacher.
  • Seek and implement areas for school improvement and the development of staff with regards to Early Years.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A dynamic and pro-active teacher, preferably with independent sector or international experience
  • Strong team player willing to support other colleagues
  • Excellent working knowledge of the English National Curriculum and recent developments
  • Pastoral responsibility or experience would be an advantage
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
  • Have a PGCE teaching qualification that is recognised in UK schools (with or without QTS)
  • Have recent experience in a school which follows the English, Welsh or Scottish National Curriculums.
  • Previous subject leadership experience in any Primary subject preferable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Hold either an EU passport or have the right to live and work in Spain.
