Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
• Assist residents with participation in activities, ensuring safety and engagement
• Support residents with mobility or cognitive challenges during activities, including those with dementia or other memory impairments
• Foster a welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and emotional well-being
• Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and preferences for recreational programming
• Maintain activity supplies and ensure the activity area is clean and organized
• Document resident participation and provide feedback on activity effectiveness

Skills

• Experience working with seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred
• Knowledge of dementia care, caregiving, and working with people with disabilities is advantageous
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, staff, and families
• Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding toward residents’ diverse needs
• Ability to organize engaging activities that promote physical movement, mental stimulation, and social interaction
• Flexibility to adapt activities based on individual resident capabilities and preferences
