Recreation Worker

Performs a variety of routine duties to ensure the success of programs and games for youth or adult participants in various sports including football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, etc.
Organizes and sets up the equipment that is used in recreational activities. Assists in field preparation and maintenance as necessary; ensures proper maintenance of equipment and recreation facilities.
Greets new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encouraging their participation. Provides direction and leadership to participants; explain principles, techniques, rules, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
Controls the game or event by enforcing established rules, regulations and requirements. Officiates games, serves as the "official" interpreter of rules and regulations, monitors play, umpires, referees, acts as a line judge, etc., records the individual and team scores, provides the final/official results.
Enforces safety rules to prevent injury. Renders routine first aid to injured participants. Follows established accident reporting procedures. Attends regularly scheduled departmental trainings. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Some knowledge of the rules and regulations of a variety of sports and recreational activities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, participants of various ages; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Certifications and Other Requirements
- Must be able to work at least 2 evening a week Monday-Friday
- CPR Certification preferred.
