Recreational/Restorative Programs Manager

Southbridge, the owner and operator of several long-term care homes and retirement communities in Southwestern Ontario, is currently seeking a Recreational /Restorative Programs Manager to join their Queensway Long-Term Care home, Hensall, Ontario.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Recreational/Restorative Programs Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and supervising the departments’ programs and staff.
What is expected of you:
- Plan, organize, direct and supervise the Program Department which includes: recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist, volunteers and restorative team members
- Implement and evaluate program relating to the five “P.I.E.S.S domains”
- Coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery in collaboration with those of other departments
- Asses departmental needs and draft an action plan
- Complete Scheduling & payroll
- Recruit/ coach, mentor and supervise departmental/programs staff
- Develop departmental goals and objects
- Actively participate in program delivery
- Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget
- Create and update Resident Health Care Records as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset)
- Coordinate the completion of MDS assessments on all residents with established timelines
- Actively participate in the homes’:
- IDTCs (Inter Disciplinary Team Conference)
- PACC (Professional Advisory Care Conference)
- QIP meetings (Quality Improvement Plan)
- Accreditation Preparation for Programs/Restorative
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university required
- Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative Care, Holistic Care, Activation and Dementia Care
- Minimum one-year supervisory experience
- Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
- Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards
- Previous supervisory experience in long term care/ORCA is an asset
- One -year experience with seniors in an organized program or one-year of experience with persons in a health care setting required
- Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers required
- Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required
