JOB DESCRIPTION:

Organize and supervise the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course. Complete tasks that will be outlined by the Head Superintendent annually.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train, supervise and organize staff on daily work assignments
  • Ensure course is maintained to Standards
  • Manage construction projects and all maintenance cultural practices such as hand watering, fertilizing, spraying, topdressing, aerating, verticutting etc.
  • Supervise maintenance staff ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and maintenance standards and directives
  • Hire seasonal staff
  • Perform IPM scouting and recording on a weekly basis
  • Assist in annual staff performance reviews
  • Maintain the irrigation systems in an operational state at all times and provide recommendations for irrigation cycles and programming
  • Monitor and report all mechanical equipment deficiencies to mechanics
  • Maintain inventory of shop and course tools such as chainsaws, linetrimmers etc.
  • Keep daily records of weather, staff assignments and cultural practices employed
  • Record all fertilizers and pesticide applications in detail
  • Refurbish course hardware and cost and order new hardware annually
  • Participate in winter maintenance of clubhouse and maintenance parking lots and buildings as required

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science) is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ontario Landscape Exterminators pesticide license

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs.
  • Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play.
  • Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments.
  • Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or green

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Flexible hours and weekends
  • Mostly outdoors in all four seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
