Curtin University is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our in-house Maintenance & Operations team. This is a campus-based, permanent role offering predictable hours, job security, and the opportunity to work on well-maintained, diverse plant in a collaborative environment – all while being home every night.

About the Role

Reporting to the Service Manager - Mechanical, you will provide comprehensive refrigeration and mechanical maintenance services including preventative, breakdown and emergency works. You will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment are maintained to statutory, safety and operational standards while delivering a high level of customer service to the University community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake statutory, preventative, breakdown and emergency maintenance of refrigeration and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose faults, repair, test and commission equipment and systems.
  • Provide timely, professional customer service and clear communication to clients regarding works, timeframes and safety impacts.
  • Supervise and coordinate external contractors and ensure compliance with university and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update the computerised maintenance management system.
  • Provide guidance and training to apprentices.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Participate in an after-hours call-out roster as required.
What we are looking for:
  • Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (or equivalent post-trade qualification) with relevant experience.
  • Restricted Electrical Licence and Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) accreditation.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and safe work practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a large, complex organisation such as a university, hospital or commercial facilities environment.
  • Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Role Requirements:
  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours call-out roster
  • Physical capability appropriate to the role
