DEPARTMENT: HEALTH & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
TERM: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY
COMMUNITY: NAIN, NL
Responsibilities
- Develop a nutritious School Food Program that incorporates Inuit values, practices and worldview.
- Serve as a resource person, to support and assist program staff with school food program delivery.
- Oversee food and supply inventory for school food programs, tracking expenditures, and prepare food and supply purchases when necessary, using approved procurement processes.
- Support program staff to develop menus, workplans and budgets.
- Recruit and support volunteers for various school food programs.
- Plan and implement program evaluation, including the development and monitoring of indicators and performance measures in order to inform the evaluation of the School Food Program.
- Support program staff with regular and ongoing evaluation and reporting by creating templates, ensuring follow-up and providing feedback.
- Promote school food programming and initiatives to keep the public informed of various school food programs and services using approved communications pathways.
- Travel within the region to support activities in all communities as required as well as some travel outside the region as required.
- Coordinate training opportunities for school food program staff as required.
- Training and in servicing as required.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma in a health, nutrition or community development related field.
- 3-5 years of experience developing and delivering health related programs or projects.
- Ability to think strategically, focus on multiple activities and integrate best practices related to food security in the school environment with Inuit values, practices and worldview.
- Demonstrated work experience in health promotion and working knowledge of the social determinants of health, nutrition and community engagement.
- Excellent communication (oral & written), interpersonal and team-building skills required to develop effective working relationships with staff, school and communities.
- Knowledge of word-processing, internet research and use of social media for social marketing and service delivery
- Experience with developing and implementing evaluation
