Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) | Columbia, MD
Pay: $23.00–$29.00 per hour
Autism Center of Excellence is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly engaged Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our team in Columbia, MD.
We are looking for an RBT who enjoys working one-on-one with children, is comfortable supporting clients with challenging behaviors, and can remain active, attentive, and responsive throughout therapy sessions.
French-speaking ability is a plus for this position to support effective communication with families, but it is not required.

What You'll Do
- Provide direct 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Collect session data and complete documentation using our electronic data collection system
- Support communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skill development
- Follow individualized behavior intervention and safety plans, including established elopement-prevention and safety protocols when applicable
- Maintain appropriate supervision and respond promptly to client movement and safety needs
- Collaborate with BCBAs, caregivers, and other team members to support client progress
- Maintain professional and compassionate interactions with clients and families
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time
Position Details
Pay: $23.00–$29.00 per hour
Required Availability: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
The days and times listed represent the availability required for this position and do not guarantee a specific work schedule, client assignment, or minimum number of hours. Actual schedules and assignments are based on client needs, service authorizations, cancellations, staffing, and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- ABA experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting children with autism and challenging behaviors preferred
- French-speaking ability is a plus, but not required
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between service locations when applicable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, dependable, attentive, compassionate, and team-oriented
- Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with supervising clinicians
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and pre-employment requirements
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position may involve supporting clients with elopement-related safety needs. Essential functions may include:
- Remaining physically active and attentive throughout therapy sessions
- Sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and transitioning between positions
- Moving quickly or running when necessary to respond to client safety needs
- Responding promptly and safely to client movement and behavior
