About the role

We are an upbeat and energetic team, who thrive in this wonderfully varied role working with consumers experiencing progressive dementia, acute delirium, as well as depression, anxiety, paranoia and general behavioural problems associated with altered cognition. Although this role may have its challenges, there is never a dull moment as no two days are the same and has the unique capacity to provide a fun working environment.
Located at Burwood Hospital we have beautiful facilities that are considerately catered to the needs of our consumers. With an organic psychiatric focus, we provide comprehensive assessment of the mental and physical health of older persons; we aim to optimise the patients level of functioning and in so doing we offer specialist treatment, care, support and education for the consumer alongside their whanau.
About You
In order to be successful in this role you will be a Registered Nurse with a Mental Health scope on your annual practicing certificate; Mental Health experience is desirable however due to the nature of care we provide our consumers we will happily consider candidates with general nursing experience who have a passion for caring for those living with a Mental Health condition.
This is a perfect transition role for someone who would like to work within Mental Health whilst maintaining your medical skills as a general nurse, along with complex pharmacology and having the opportunity to work within a dedicated and highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
Skills and experience
- 2 - 4 years - experience as a registered nurse, ideally in Specialist Mental Health Services
- Hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with mental health scope and current APC
- Be a confident practitioner with good patient assessment skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide variety of people
- Experience working in Mental Health or have a passion to develop those skills
