About The Service | Ko Te Whare O Toro Mai a Ringa
Toro Mai a Ringa is a unique and vital partnership between Ember Korowai Takitini and Lakes DHB, delivered under the Te Ara Tauwhirotanga model of care. Located in the heart of Rotorua, this community-based residence provides intensive, wraparound support for people with complex mental health needs that go beyond the usual scope of residential services.
Meaning "outstretched hands," Toro Mai a Ringa represents a place of welcome, safety, and opportunity. It is a space where tāngata whaiora from across the Lakes rohe are supported to rebuild their lives and take confident steps back into their community. With a focus on connection, dignity, and recovery, Toro Mai a Ringa extends not just a hand, but a pathway towards hope and healing.
About The Role | Nga mahi
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team, delivering recovery-focused care that supports tāngata whaiora to regain independence and reintegrate into the community.
The Registered Nurse plays a key clinical role within the service, working alongside support workers to ensure safe and effective care. You will work collaboratively to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care. You will work directly with the whai ora, identifying strengths, goals, and issues. Along with this you will also be coordinating (key working) allocated whaiora; entry, client pathway, reviews external client meetings as well as exit.
You will have | Nga Pukenga
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and current Annual Practising Certificate
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
- A valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship
- A client centred, recovery-focused approach. You must unwaveringly believe in people’s ability to progress no matter the obstacles.
- Experience with nursing in mental health and/or addiction services settings
- Knowledge of mental health rehabilitation approaches (e.g., cognitive remediation, psychosocial rehabilitation), experience working with co-occurring addictions and/or cognitive difficulties, and knowledge of Māori health approaches (preferred)
- A passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
