About the Role
Step into an exciting opportunity where clinical expertise meets meaningful patient care based at Whakatāne hospital. We are offering the successful candidate a part-time 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week), for up to 13-months fixed term to cover parental leave. The 11-bed Acute Care Unit includes a 6-bedded Level One ICU/HDU/CCU and a 5-bedded general admission area with advanced monitoring capabilities, catering to a diverse patient population from across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
This role involves providing specialist nursing care in a setting where patient acuity varies, requiring adaptability to both steady workflows and rapid escalations in care needs. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team ensures the best possible outcomes in this 24/7 acute care service.

About you
A skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse with a strong foundation in acute care, confident clinical decision making, and a patient-focused approach will thrive in this role. What is needed for the role:
- Current New Zealand Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Experience in acute care, with preference for those with ICU or HDU exposure.
- Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 acute care environment, responding to both steady workflows and urgent situations.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
