About the Role
Step into a rewarding opportunity within our Cancer Centre based at Tauranga Hospital, where you will deliver expert nursing care to oncology patients throughout their journey – from diagnosis to the completion of treatment. This position involves delivering continuity of care, patient education, and clinical assessments while ensuring safe access to high-level treatment. Occasional travel between Tauranga and Whakatāne hospital sites is required to maintain consistent, exceptional care across settings.
This opportunity offers a rewarding experience within a busy and positive multidisciplinary team. You will be involved in the safe administration of chemotherapy, assisting with oncology-related procedures, and supporting oncology haematology clinic sessions. Training and education will be provided for those eager to advance their expertise in oncology nursing.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Cancer Centre delivers high-quality care to individuals and families facing medical oncology challenges. Based in the stunning Bay of Plenty, this service embraces a holistic, patient-centred approach and is committed to achieving excellence in clinical outcomes through teamwork and innovation.
About you
If you experience or a strong interest in oncology nursing, this is an ideal opportunity to join a specialist service. The ideal candidate will have:
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate, with a postgraduate nursing qualification (preferred not essential.
- Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based clinical practice and a safe care environment.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
