Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse with addiction speciality knowledge and skills to join our dedicated and skilled Hamilton based interdisciplinary team. We are looking for experienced registered nurses but are prepared to support the right candidate in Addiction specialty nursing training. If you are a registered nurse, with experience working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau suffering from the impact of mental health and addictions, have relevant post graduate study and are dedicated to upholding Te Tiriti O Waitangi, come and join a team where your skills and experience will be valued and utilised.
Are you ready to be part of a team committed to achieving equity for Māori, Pasifika, LGBTQIA+, and disabled whānau? Do you thrive in a learning environment where diversity is celebrated? Is a whānau-centric approach your way of working?
About the Team
Community Alcohol and other Drugs Service (CADS) provides support and services for Tāngata whaiora and whānau with complex alcohol and other drug concerns, often with mental and/or physical health co-morbidty. We are focused on achieving equitable outcomes, supporting connections and strengthening families.
About you
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
Our Community Alcohol and other Drugs Service team works collaboratively with our Te Whatu Ora Waikato colleagues and across the Rohe to achieve results for our Tāngata whaiora, while continuously learning and developing our own skills.
We look forward to hearing from you if you enjoy working with people with complexity, have a non-judgemental attitude, excellent engagement and communication skills, and are able to work independently as well as within a great interdisciplinary team.
Ideally, we would recruit for both 0.8 and 1.0 FTE positions but will consider other options for the right person.
