About the Role
This is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to be at the frontline of urgent and critical care. A 9-month fixed-term, part-time working 0.8FTE (32 hours per week) position is available in our Emergency Department based at Whakatāne hospital, providing a chance to develop and expand your acute care skills in a high-energy, team-driven environment.
As a part of the team you will work alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary team, including Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, experienced Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Clerical Staff, and the medical team. A comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development will provide the support needed to excel in this essential service.

About you
An adaptable, quick-thinking, and team-oriented nurse with a passion for emergency care will thrive in this role. Previous acute care experience is beneficial, but those eager to learn and grow in a high-paced setting are also encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have:
- Current New Zealand Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Previous Emergency or Acute Care experience (preferred).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to navigate high-pressure situations effectively.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
