About the Role

The General Surgery & Surgical Progressive Care Unit (SPCU) has an exciting opportunity for A Registered Nurse to join the team.

The service operates Monday to Sunday across all shifts - Morning, Afternoons and Nights.

About the Service

Our team provides care for our acute general surgery patients, undergoing general surgical procedures within the ward environment and high dependency surgical patients in our 8 bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit.

We are a Dedicated Education Unit for staff wanting to be involved in the development of student nurses.

About you

We are looking for an energetic nurse who is eager to strengthen and develop their skills. Ideally you will be an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about Acute General Surgery and Progressive Care and can work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and improved patient outcomes are attained.

Working in our large multidisciplinary team will enable you to work closely with and learn from our Surgeons, Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, who are all experts in their specialties and who are focused on advances in surgical care that improve clinical outcomes.

  • Recent acute surgical or medical experience
  • Ability to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of nursing practice within our service is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks
  • You will have effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
