The remuneration range for this role is $75,773 to $106,739 and is covered by the collective agreement: NZNO MECA (31 March 2023 – 31 October 2024)

Position Description | Registered Nurse, Outpatients

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our friendly and professional Outpatient Department team, Te Whatu Ora, Tairawhiti. This unit provides planned and acute care services (for our local community within Gisborne and the east coast) including but not limited to Specialist General Surgery, Internal Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Women’s Health and many visiting specialities. Nurses play a pivotal role in ensuring the management of patient and whanau health care experiences are transparent including supporting patient advocacy, rapport building, providing and striving for exceptional quality of care within the planned care environment as per the organisation’s policies, procedures and greater organisation’s WAKA values.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, treatments, interventional procedures and education.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional development and competence.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand nursing registration.
  • A current Work Visa
  • An understanding of Outpatient nursing responsibilities.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Whilst the unit is currently open Monday to Friday and some weekends, the role is advertised as rostered and rotating shifts. Gisborne Hospital Te Whatu Ora and the Outpatient department is committed to CCDM/VRM, therefore, shifts in other areas of the hospital are required.
