In 1997 our Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) opened. St. Mary's Center expanded to provide medical care and social support to people in the community living with HIV/AIDS. Today the program offers more than 60 types of support groups and services each week. We recognize that fun is an important part of health and we offer numerous recreational opportunities to make fun a part of wellness.

St. Mary’s Center is hiring for a part-time Registered Nurse. This position will assess, plan, and implement supervision of nursing activities within the facility. The RN will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing care to residents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinate the development, implementation, & evaluation of the nursing regimen for residents within assigned unit by (a) planning, coordinating, and assessing resident care on unit; (b) identifying resident needs; (c) planning, distributing, and discussing assignments with nursing staff; (d) provide corrective action to nursing problems; (e) accept physician telephone orders and documenting on order sheet.

- Coordinate the development of nursing staff by (a) training, counseling, and disciplining the nursing staff; (b) enforcing policies and procedures; (c) evaluate the competency of the nursing staff.

- Interpret the standards of nursing practices by (a) review charts to ensure quality documentation; (b) provide in-service trainings and orientation for nursing staff; (c) investigate complaints involving nursing staff.

- Keep accurate records for narcotics and controlled drugs in accordance with the law.

- Direct supervision of LPN’s and CNA’s in unit.

- Conduct resident care rounds to each resident, at least every two (2) hours.

- Ensure that each resident’s care plan is followed and documented; residents receive prescribed treatments, medication, and diet.

- Present the daily census report to the administrative meetings, attend Comprehensive Care Plan meetings, and any other meetings, as needed.

- Understand every employee’s role in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program (QAPI).

- Access and review all resident medical and psycho-social information.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BSN in Nursing from accredited college or university or Nursing School Graduate

- 2+ years’ nursing experience in working in a healthcare setting, people living with AIDS, mental health, and or substance abuse

- 2+ years supervisory experience

- Active NYS RN License, IV Certification, CPR/BLS Certification

- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Pay: $55.00 per hour
