About the Role

We have a permanent 0.8FTE position (64 hours a fortnight) available. This position is based in the main theatre department where we provide public acute and elective services, as well as private cases. Shifts are rostered Monday-Sunday, with on call after hours and at the weekends. Surgical specialties covered include: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental and Acute/Trauma.

About the Team/Location

Wairau Hospital Theatre Suite consists of 5 Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Day Stay Unit.

About you

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • You will be an experienced Theatre RN, EN or RNAA with the ability to care for patients undergoing a variety of acute and elective surgical procedures.
  • Team work is key in the operating theatre; you will need to be a team-player with a collaborative attitude towards patient care.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
