About the role
The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin.
This role will:
- collaborate with the multidisciplinary team comprising of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Mental Health Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists
- develop your clinical skills on a shift-by-shift basis
- Work alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting
- emphasise the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever-changing dynamic setting
- encompass acute care of patients recently admitted as well as the continuing care and rehabilitation of patients with complex needs
- collaborate closely with the Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

About you
To be successful in this role you must:
- hold New Zealand Nursing Council registration and have a current APC
- hold a scope of practice that allows you to work in Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities (more information can be found at http://www.nursingcouncil.org.nz/Nurses/Scopes-of-practice)
- have current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand
- be positive with exceptional communication skills
- have a passion for supporting people from admission to discharge.
