ESB is a purpose led company striving to create a brighter future for the customers and communities we serve, leading the transition to reliable, affordable, low-carbon energy. Today, we operate one of the most progressive electricity systems in the world, with activities spanning electricity generation, transmission, distribution and supply in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain, and an international energy consulting business.
With almost 8,000 employees we invested €1bn in infrastructure last year, contributed over €2bn to the economies we operate in and distributed over €2m across a range of community initiatives. This requires us to bring the best of our capabilities together to deliver innovative and value-driven solutions that enable our customers to live low-carbon lives. ESB strives to foster an effective and inclusive culture where people engage, challenge and feel connected to our purpose, colleagues, customers and community.
Position Description
ESB Generation and Trading Regulation and Compliance has a vacancy where you can apply and develop your economic skills and have an impact on the transition to a low carbon world.
ESB has led the transition to electrification since 1927 and our company is characterised by a commitment to drive society and its economy forward. Our purpose is to deliver a brighter future for the customers and communities we serve, and this is reflected in our constant and unwavering commitment to tackling society’s biggest challenges, enhancing people’s lives, and creating new opportunities. You can support us in delivering this change as you learn from an experienced and recognised team in the generation business.
ESB is taking urgent and focused action to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 and still ensure that power is affordable. We are Ireland's leading power generator not only by size but also by having varied types of technologies and you can help us deliver on our purpose as part of the team in Generation.
You will join an experienced Regulation team that is at the center of many of the challenges and projects in our generation business.

What We Offer

You will get the opportunity to influence the shape of the future energy markets that will be needed to enable a secure and sustainable transition to net zero.
- ESB will offer you the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that will safeguard the security of energy supply for the country as we strive to ensure our renewables future is backed up by flexible low carbon generation which will be a key part of our operational assets during the transition period.

- We will support your learning on the job by being part of a team that is driven by ESB’s high-performance culture and by ensuring that opportunities for development and training are facilitated. You will also get a very good understanding of the company with considerable scope for personal growth.
- The team covers many issues so your development will be driven by getting an awareness of the different areas and then build on getting experience. ESB is a large organisation with over 9000 staff members so as you develop your career within the Regulation team you will also learn the competencies that will make you suitable for wider roles.
- As the challenge to drive to low carbon becomes keener opportunities and challenges will inevitably arise, making sure that the work you are involved with is always interesting.
- By joining the team, you will have an opportunity to affect the direction and delivery of solutions addressing the social challenge of our time to drive to a low carbon sustainable future.
