Position Summary
The Remote Registered Dietitian will support patient care through telephonic nutrition assessments, patient coaching, and coordination with food service operations to ensure diet orders and nutrition needs are properly implemented. This role focuses on nutrition education and coaching (not Medical Nutrition Therapy) while supporting clinical and operational processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Nutrition Assessments
· Conduct initial and follow-up nutrition assessments via telephone
· Obtain nutrition, medical, and dietary preference information
· Provide nutrition coaching and education
· Answer patient questions between assessments
· Document all interactions in the medical record system
Communication with Healthcare Providers
· Communicate with patient healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, dietitians, etc.)
· Obtain and verify medical and nutrition-related information
· Request documentation to support patient services and eligibility
· Maintain professional communication with providers
Coordination with Food Service
· Collaborate with food service staff to align meals with diet orders
· Assist with menu review and nutrition standards
· Support coordination between clinical and kitchen teams
Quality & Program Development
· Assist in development and maintenance of nutrition care standards
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives
· Conduct quality assurance audits
· Assist with surveys and performance improvement
· Participate in meetings and committees
Operational Support
· Support day-to-day operations
· Provide in-service staff training
· Contribute to service improvement and cost-efficiency
· Perform other duties as assigned
Quality Responsibilities
Participate in the organization’s Quality Management Program and support service delivery, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bilingual Requirement:
This position requires fluency in both English and Spanish. Applicants who are not bilingual will not be considered.
· Required:
· Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition
· Strong communication skills
· Experience with assessments and documentation
· Ability to work independently remotely
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Experience using Microsoft Teams
· Ability to manage email communication and scheduling effectively
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) systems
· Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Compensation
Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 annually
· Compensation is based on assessment completion and productivity metrics
· Minimum of 10-15 completed patient assessments per day (initial + follow-ups)
· Higher volume of completed assessments may result in higher earnings within the salary range
