Requirement: Republic of Korea OCONUS Ship Rider (various positions)

Job Description: Forge is seeking qualified full-time Ship Riders (multiple positions) to implement procedures for safety and security. These positions are for a future opportunity. These positions will be located in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and support the Naval Sea Systems Command's (NAVSEA) Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS). PEO IWS' mission is to develop, deliver, and sustain operationally dominant combat systems for sailors. PEO IWS 4.0 is responsible for engaging with foreign partners, coordinating with product-provider organizations within PEO IWS to adapt their products to the specific needs of these key allies, and for the management and execution of FMS cases. Additionally, these positions will include Invited Contractor status under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities of the candidate will be (but aren't limited to):

  • Responsible for the security and safety of critical and/or classified items in accordance with U.S. and ROK safety regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and security procedures in ROK.
  • Rectify unsafe actions or conditions immediately.
  • Document all incidents that take place during assigned shifts/ at assigned posts in a detailed incident report.
  • Watch ship compartments and property to defend against damage, theft, or harm caused by intruders. Duties are performed unarmed.
  • Inspect the identification of persons before entering restricted areas. Be able to interact and communicate with outside personnel as needed.
  • Perform walking patrols throughout the shift.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of shipboard security procedures, building operations, evacuation procedures, severe weather procedures, law enforcement interaction, and report writing.
  • Maintain a daily log of all activity during the assigned shift at the assigned post.
  • Have an ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately and be able to respond appropriately.
  • Provide courier services in-country using USG vehicles between facilities and designated work locations for PEO IWS 4.0 personnel (e.g., commercial facilities, the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) bases, and ships).
  • Arrive on time, in proper attire, to the assigned post.

Qualifications/Requirements:

The Candidate must have the ability to think strategically, act tactically, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. They must also build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. The Candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

We are looking for candidates who already reside in ROK and have an active U.S. DoD Secret clearance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active United States DoD SECRET security clearance
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods
  • Able to climb a flight of stairs in one motion and lift up to 70 pounds
  • Already resides in ROK
  • Limited working proficiency in the Korean language

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Military, security, or law enforcement background
  • Regional or functional experience in the Asia-Pacific region

Job: Full Time; Shifts will occur in increments. Ship Riders will typically be required to embark on ROKN ships for up to five days at a time (Sunday - Thursday or Monday - Friday). Infrequently, Ship Riders may be required to embark on ROKN ships for up to two to three consecutive weeks. Ship Riders should expect to embark on ROKN ships approximately 25 weeks in a calendar year.

Location: Commander Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC), ROK. Moving/relocation costs are not authorized.

Salary Range: $65k-70K/yr
