The epidemiology group at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus is recruiting a Research Assistant in the field of Diabetes Epidemiology as per 1 July 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term position for 9 months.
About the research project
The wider SERIAL project aims to understand multiple chronic conditions, including diabetes and its complications at the population level based on data from Danish registers and cohort studies as well as the UK Biobank.
The current position focuses on the analysis of data from the ADDITION-PRO cohort of people at intermediate and high risk of diabetes in relation to the incidence of diabetes and cardiovascular events, assessed through the Danish registers. Furthermore, the position involves preparation of manuscripts and presentations summarizing the research findings.
Your job responsibilities
As researcher assistant in Diabetes Epidemiology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the research group through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.
Your main tasks will consist of
- Research of high international quality, including publication:
- Designing, preparing and executing epidemiological research projects, including data handling, preparation and statistical analyses.
- Writing manuscripts that report the findings, including coordination with co-authors.
- Presentation of research results at institutional, national and international research meetings
- Active participation in activities in the research group, such as group meetings, code review sessions.
Your Competences:
- You have academic qualifications at the MSc or PhD level in the area of Human Medicine, Epidemiology, Statistics or Health Sciences, preferably with a focus on chronic diseases (particularly diabetes) multimorbidity, or their major determinants.
- Experience in planning, setting up and conducting epidemiological research. Experience in conducting register-based analyses, or analyses based on large cohort studies is a strong asset.
- Experience in independently planning and executing statistical data analysis plans in the R statistical programming language.
- Strong organizational skills, an analytically creative mindset and an interest in diabetes epidemiology.
- As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

Employment Conditions
- Start date: July 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
- The position is full-time (100%) and temporary (9 months).
- Salary is in accordance with current agreement.
- Employment is conditional on a satisfactory child certificate.
- The candidate will be employed in Central Denmark Region and place of employment will for the present be at AUH.
