We are now looking for

Research Assistant

to join us in the Learning and Learning Processes Research Unit at the Faculty of Education and Psychology for a fixed-term position lasting until 31.8.2026.

Learning and Learning Processes Research Unit (LLP) tackles the following problem: How can we increase human learning competence in the age of AI? The unit’s expertise lies in learning sciences, integrating theoretical perspectives on the social, cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes of learning in different learning contexts. We focus on understanding individual and group learning. It employs multimodal methodological approaches toward research.

About the job

As a research assistant, you will support a variety of research-related tasks. These may include, for example, searching for and reviewing research literature, assisting with data collection and analysis, as well as other agreed-upon support tasks related to research and teaching.

Who are you?

We expect you to have:

• A current understanding of research on learning, for example familiarity with theories of motivation in learning and/or self-regulated learning
• A basic understanding of how to conduct a literature review
• Interest in the use of different technologies, including AI, as part of research and learning
• The ability and language skills to work independently and actively in an international research group, where working language is English
• A completed higher education degree or ongoing studies at the master’s level

We also consider the following as an advantage:

• Previous experience in research-related tasks
• Experience in handling of different types of research data

Salary

The position is fixed term starting from 1.3.2026 (or as agreed) until 31.8.2026.

The salary will be based on the levels 2-3 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 2000-2400 EUR per month (before taxes). A trial period of 3 months is applied to the position.
