Research Fellow [Lkcmedicine]
Primary Care and Family Medicine at LKC Medicine is a dynamic and growing multidisciplinary group with expertise in general practice, qualitative research, statistics, clinical trials, health services research and implementation science. It aims to deliver high-quality research designed to inform policy and practice and to improve health outcomes. The department supports and promotes the involvement of patients and the public in health research through the Primary Care OPEN initiative and works closely with primary healthcare professionals through the Singapore Primary Care Research and Knowledge (SPARK) Network and our partners at National Healthcare Group Polyclinics.
We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant/Associate/Fellow to work in the field of Primary Care and Family Medicine exploring cancer screening, cancer risk communication and implementation of models of care to improve cancer screening. The Research Associate/Fellow will have experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and implementation science and work effectively in a team that includes communication and behavioural change researchers, Patient Partners (through the OPEN Network), primary care researchers and clinicians in the Singapore Primary Care Research and Knowledge (SPARK) Network and our partners at National Healthcare Group Polyclinics. The Research Associate/Fellow will be capable of generating publications, have strong written and verbal communication, time management skills and be self-motivated and organized. They will be able to manage administration tasks associated with research activities. Prior experience supervising and/or teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, data analysis and interpretation
  • Design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of quantitative, qualitative and co-design studies
  • Undertake literature reviews and systematic reviews
  • Project management of program of work, ensuring study deliverables, reports and publications are completed punctually according to study and grant timelines
  • Prepare reports, presentations and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed publication and lay statement.
Administration
  • Ensure all work processes met the ethical standards of the University, Singapore Good Clinical Practice Guidelines and other applicable regulatory and ethical requirements
  • Train and supervise junior team members and students in research processes and projects
Collaboration and communication
  • Work effectively with key stakeholder groups, including patients and clinicians, to achieve project and program outcomes
  • Lead or contribute to grants, manuscripts, reports, reviews, abstracts, posters and oral presentations with collaborators
  • Assist in communications with institutional review board staff regarding ethics applications, amendments, and reports
Competencies and Qualification requirements:
  • PhD (For Research Fellow) or Masters (For Research Associate) or Bachelors (For Research Assistant) qualification or equivalent in co-design, health services research, implementation science or a related discipline (eg medicine, nursing, allied health, psychology, public health, social science, statistics)
  • Experience in co-design, health services or implementation research, preferably in primary health care setting
  • Design of research projects using a range of methods (experience of quantitative and qualitative methods)
  • Competent in utilising software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, statistical packages (e.g. Stata), NVivo
  • Successful research activity evidenced by:
  • Peer reviewed grant income
  • Publication in national and international journals
  • Presentations at national and international conferences
  • Familiarity with primary care setting in Singapore and/or internationally
  • Ability to work effectively, both individually, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Experience in teaching and/or supervising undergraduate or postgraduate students
  • Successful research activity evidenced by:
  • Peer reviewed grant income
  • Publication in national and international journals
  • Presentations at national and international conferences
  • Familiarity with primary care setting in Singapore and/or internationally
