Research Scientist (Postdoc) (All Genders Welcome)

At the University of Göttingen -Public Law Foundation-, Abt. Forstgenetik und Forstpflanzenzüchtung, there is a position as to be filled. Starting date is 10/1/2026. The position is limited to 30.09.2029.



The successful candidate will work in the project: “Genetic basis of growth habit, vigor and drought stress tolerance of sessile oak - genome-wide sequencing and mobile laser scanning“ funded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity.

Your tasks
· Genome-wide Association analysis for physiological and tree architectural traits in an oak provenance trail
· Development of models for genomic prediction for drought and growth related traits
· Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals
· Assistance with the organization and coordination of the project




Your profile

• PhD degree in biology, agricultural sciences, forest sciences or related disciplines

• High motivation and enthusiasm
• Proficiency in bioinformatics and experience with GWAS and genomic selection methods

• Sound knowledge and understanding of molecular breeding methods
• Experience and profound knowledge in statistics, quantitative genetics and data analysis
• Excellent English language skills

• Very good publication record (dependent on the career stage)
• Very good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a team
