Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity, and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world-class research.

Embrace an opportunity to become part of something extraordinary.

Graduate Research Services
The Graduate Research team provides academic leadership to support the planning, governance, delivery and ongoing improvement of ECU’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) courses and research training offerings. In collaboration with Schools and other organisational units, the team support ECUs Doctoral and Master by Research candidates and supervisors by providing a comprehensive face-to-face and online research skills training program, seminars, academic events and social activities.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Graduate Research Services (GRS) Team.

The Research Student Support Coordinator will work closely with the Team Leader, Graduate Research Services, the Manager, Graduate Research Services, Associate Deans (Research), and the dedicated GRS team. The role is central to coordinating research support services for doctoral and research master candidates, ensuring quality assurance processes, and strengthening the research culture across the University. The GRS team is responsible for:

Guiding and assisting HDR candidates and their supervisors throughout the research journey;
Fostering a vibrant research culture that encourages collaboration and effective communication at ECU;
Coordinating ECU’s strategic scholarships allocation and management, and identifying new opportunities; and
Delivering analytics and reporting on all matters related to HDR candidates and supervisors.

A complete list of accountabilities can be viewed in the position description.

About you

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Experience providing high-level administrative and coordination services in a large organisation. Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products (intermediate or above Excel skills are desirable).
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally and positively with candidates and supervisors by phone and online. A friendly, respectful approach and clear guidance are essential.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use sound judgment, make recommendations, and take responsibility for outcomes.
The ability to adapt established policies and processes to meet objectives, applying initiative and discretion to deliver solutions while considering impacts across related areas.

Previous experience in the Higher Education sector, particularly with respect to postgraduate research students, whilst not essential, will be well regarded.
