The position is available immediately.

The candidate will participate in a project co-funded by the NovoNordisk Foundation. The goal is to conjugate cancer targeting peptides to chelators suitable for binding theranostic radioactive isotope pairs for application in diagnostics and cancer therapy. The research will be focused on:

  • Developing robust synthetic routes to new chelating ligands and in particular their antimony complexes.
  • Employing advanced spectroscopic, electrochemical and X-ray diffraction and fluorescence techniques in the investigation of structure–reactivity relationships.
  • Designing conjugation and cancer cell targeting strategies.
  • Collaborating on mechanistic and computational studies.
  • Developing protocols for radiolabeling and other studies.
  • Electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and strong collaborative ties across inorganic, organometallic, and bioinorganic chemistry and nuclear medicine. Expected competences include a strong experience in organic synthesis with an emphasis on main group chemistry, and a solid background in structural and spectroscopic methods of characterization. Experience in radiochemistry is not expected.

The supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and some undergraduate teaching can be expected.
