We are now looking for a Researcher to join our Fuels R&D team in Lappeenranta, Finland.

We are looking for an open-minded, experienced, solution-oriented chemist with good co-operative skills. What you will do
  • Work closely with our R&D experts and UPM Businesses’ technical teams in various research, laboratory, and piloting related tasks mainly in the field of biofuels, biochemicals, and pulp and support them in mainly inorganic and analytical chemistry related topics
  • Be responsible for various method development projects, analytical instruments and take new instruments in use, and work with laboratories validating analytical methods and maintaining method reliability
  • Make work plans and instructions to coordinate activities between research departments, laboratories, and pilot operations
  • Interpret laboratory results, make conclusions and recommendations, and report the results to internal co-operation partners and colleagues
  • Oversee and evaluate the cutting-edge research on analytical equipment and methodologies
Who you are
  • You have at least Master’s degree in analytical or inorganic chemistry and have minimum of three years’ professional experience as a researcher in the field of analytical chemistry
  • You have a good understanding and hands-on experience in inorganic/elemental analysis, e.g., XRF, ICP, or fuel analytics, and ideally experience in working with complex sample matrixes from biorefinery processes
  • You are proactive, customer oriented, socially and organizationally skilled and interested in method development and analytical chemistry
  • You have the capability to build and utilize global professional networks
  • You are determined and flexible and able to make decisions independently
  • You are fluent in English, Finnish is seen as an asset
