Residential Worker - Waking Nights

PIPS Homes are looking for Residential Family Practitioners to join our brand new residential home in Loughborough! We provide a home from home nurturing environment where families can develop their parenting capacity and you will form part of the core team that support parents on a day to day basis to provide care for their children.

The Role:

· To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.

· To work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.

· To work co-operatively with children’s services, health agencies and other community-based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.

· Safeguarding, caring for and supporting children and parents when the parents might be experiencing difficulties for a variety of reasons.

· Helping parents to enhance their parenting skills by encouraging, teaching, modelling and supporting parents in a number of specific parenting tasks as recommended by the Assessment Team at Pulteney House.

· Assessing the level and type of support that is required by a parent or child at any time and ensuring that the appropriate level of monitoring is provided for each family, in line with their placement plan.

· Working collaboratively with the wider assessment team, seeking further information, advice or support when necessary.

· Recording accurate and objective information with regards to the functioning, behaviour and observations of both children and their parents.

· Give feedback to families

· To apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

. To ensure the safety and welfare of children remains central to the assessment/intervention process.

. To take an active part in the assessment process regarding children and families - to observe, supervise, record and assess family interaction, child behaviour, parental motivation and parental ability to meet the needs of the child(ren).

. To provide a service that values and respects the strengths, experiences, and background of the families.

. To take an active part within team meetings in reviewing and developing the practices and provision within, and resources available to, the home.

. To provide structured feedback to parents during and at the end of each shift using the methods provided.

. To plan and prioritise workload effectively within established timeframes and ensure that all written recordings meet required deadlines as directed.

. To assist with childcare duties as required.

. To liaise with managers, and source other agencies/resources as appropriate.

. To work as part of a team to provide a culturally sensitive service for children and their families.

. To promote and maintain equal opportunities and anti-oppressive practice within the work environment.

. To observe and implement Child Protection Procedures and the Homes policies and procedures.

. To participate fully in training and supervision, identifying training courses relevant to role and personal development.

. To be aware of health and safety responsibilities at work and the policies that underpin these responsibilities.

. If you have observed a specific incident, to provide evidence in court, if required.

. To undertake other duties as identified by the Registered manager.

** Please note that this is full time role which will require you to work 40 hours a week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern night and weekend working**
