About the Project / Service
Our resource centres are based in Dumfries, Annan, Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart and Stranraer. These are safe and welcoming environments with opportunities to take part in a diverse range of activities to build self-confidence and recovery. We work closely with our service users to plan group activities and events to reduce isolation and encourage connections with their local community.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Project Worker, you are responsible for group work planning, facilitation and some occasional one-to-one work.
You will work directly with service users who require immediate or on going emotional or practical support in order to deliver the best possible outcomes. You will contribute to personal planning with individuals, recording of their progress and conducting reviews for their plans. You will work closely with other members of staff to achieve outcomes as defined by your line manager.
Within the area team there is a clear line management structure which supports and shapes your practice. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Project provides a safe environment where people can relax, re-establish social skills, develop new ones and enhance their overall quality of life.
General Duties include:
· Working as part of a team building positive working relationships
· In partnership with service users, implementing outcome focussed development plans as designed/overseen by your line manager to enable service users to achieve their identified goals
· Achieving outcomes, by employing a number of appropriate intervention strategies including positive communication skills
· Ongoing risk assessment is integral to our practice to ensure the wellbeing of service users
· Demonstrating group work skills which bring people together in a safe environment
· Being aware of appropriate professional boundaries, including confidentiality
· Contributing to service user goals and outcomes by working in partnership across a number of organisations, sourcing appropriate community support and opportunities
Essential Criteria:
· You are educated to SVQ level 2 in Health and/or Social Care or have relevant experience working in health and social care
· You can plan and prioritise your own workload
· Your professional self -awareness means that you can seek support and advice from your line manager appropriately and participate in supervision and support meetings positively
· You are empathetic
· Your personal and professional value base is consistent with the aims and objectives of Change Mental Health
· Your practice is firmly based within a model of recovery
· You demonstrate genuine regard for service users and their families
· You have good I.T. skills and can produce accurate case notes
· You are enthusiastic to develop your knowledge and skills
· Experience of working with people affected by mental illness
Desirable Criteria
· Experience of working in a SSSC Registered Service
· A learning and development portfolio which evidences my skills and knowledge.
· Lived experience of mental health
Successful applicants for this post will require a PVG Membership] (this will be arranged by Change Mental Health during before you start your role). You are required by Disclosure Scotland to register for a Scot Account for a PVG membership
