Respite Care Assistant

Respite Care Assistant

Permanent Contract (full-time)


Cheeverstown provides respite services to adults and children in community in two locations. We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic staff who wish to develop their skills and work in a dynamic care environment offering respite services. Successful candidates must be professional, self-motivated, work well as a member of the team with mixed skills, shows initiative, good organisational skills, adapts to change and flexible in their working hours.


Role Description
:

The overall purpose of the Care Assistant role is to provide care and support through a person-centred approach which promotes the person's development and growth and

participation in their local communities.

Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and experienced, with a passion for engaging with the people we support on a daily basis.

Promote and support community integration for the individuals supported by Cheeverstown.

The role of Care Assistant is significant in a person's life. The work is rewarding, varied and interesting.


Eligibility criteria

  • A FETAC/QQI Level 5 Major Award in Social Care/ Healthcare or relevant qualification- all 8 modules completed.
  • A minimum of 3 years' previous experience supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism.
  • Preference to have a full clean driver's license and willingness to drive as part of the role.
  • Values that correspond with Cheeverstown's values.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good listening skills.
  • A person-centered approach to the provision of supports, including an understanding of the individual needs and abilities of each person.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond to changing needs and situations.
  • Openness to providing supports across a variety of activities.
  • Commitment and dedication to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disability and autism.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Good IT and administrative skills.

Salary will be reflective of qualification and level of experience as per the HSE Consolidated salary scales
