Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Respite Workers to provide essential support and relief to our 13 year old Autistic son. The applicant must have had some past work experiences with Autism. Must have a valid drivers licence for more than 5 years. Every Saturday morning is required to work from 9am-12pm some shifts or 9am-1pm (depending on the week)
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting (still in pull ups)
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients of all ages
- Support with medication administration following prescribed guidelines
- Prepare meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding as necessary
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and organizing living spaces
- Help clients with mobility exercises or transfers using proper techniques and equipment
- Monitor and report on clients’ health status, noting any changes or concerns
- Engage clients in recreational activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction
- Adhere to all safety protocols and care plans established by healthcare professionals
Skills
- Experience in Autism and Behaviour challenges
- Strong patient care skills
- Knowledge of caregiving best practices including medication administration and safety procedures
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or transfers
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to help others
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic skills in meal preparation and light cleaning are advantageous

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$20.90 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 4 per week
