Resuscitation Educator - Resuscitation Service

  • Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch
  • 0.8FTE (32 hours a week), Permanent role
  • Rotating Roster - Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 (hours to be discussed at interview stage)

The Resuscitation Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Resuscitation Educator.

This is a unique and diverse role where you will be able to extend your educational skills and knowledge in the speciality of resuscitation and education and reflects an exciting opportunity to experience a role within the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Team at Christchurch Hospital.

The role has both education and clinical focus at its core.

As part of this role, you will be required to demonstrate good CPR skills including resuscitation simulations on the floor across teaching workshops.

About the Service

The Resuscitation Service consists of a small team providing strategic direction for resuscitation training and practise within Canterbury. The service is responsible for training and the development, implementation and regular review of resuscitation practise including policies, procedures, equipment and resources.

The service is supported by the Department of Anaesthesia and the CPR advisory committee. Guidelines and practise are governed by the New Zealand Resuscitation Council.

About you

We are looking for an experienced health professional who has strong communication skills to liaise with all disciplines and occupational groups and be able to assist in leading Canterbury wide system changes to improve resuscitation outcomes through evidence based practise and education.

You will have expert resuscitation knowledge to provide advice across all disciplines and occupational groups along with contributing to resuscitation policy formation and review.

You will be confident in providing education session for our medical staff and holding a graduate qualification in Adult Education or Clinical Teaching would be an advantage.


  • Current practicing health professional with a registered New Zealand Practising Certificate with no restrictions
  • Hold a current NZRC CORE Instructor certificate (or be prepared to train as a CORE Instructor)
  • Have clinical expertise or be recognised as an expert in resuscitation practice, especially airway management
  • Have a demonstrated ability to contribute to, as well as develop, appropriate healthcare standards and quality initiatives.
  • Proven leadership experience to health providers
  • Commitment to ongoing development of clinical skills
  • Evidence of effective teaching skills and ability to support healthcare professionals at all levels of practise
  • Vision and flexibility to accommodate change
  • Ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team
  • Excellent administrative and time management skills
