Store Manager – White House Gifts
Reports To: Director of Retail Operations
Department: Retail Operations
Classification: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt
Position Summary
The Store Manager is a key operational leader responsible for supporting the daily success of White House Gifts’ retail operations within a fast-paced, high-volume tourism environment. This role works closely alongside the Director of Retail Operations to oversee daily store execution, employee leadership, customer experience, merchandising, labor management, and operational organization.
The Store Manager plays an important role in driving sales performance, maintaining operational standards, developing employees, and ensuring a memorable customer experience for visitors from around the world. This position requires strong leadership, organization, communication, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic retail environment.
Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesRetail Leadership & Daily Operations
· Support and oversee daily retail store operations
· Assist the Director of Retail Operations with operational execution and leadership coverage
· Ensure excellent customer service standards are consistently maintained
· Monitor store presentation, merchandising, cleanliness, and operational readiness
· Help manage daily priorities in a high-volume tourism environment
Team Leadership & Employee Development
· Help lead, coach, motivate, and develop retail associates and supervisors
· Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling employees
· Provide ongoing coaching, accountability, and performance feedback
· Support a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture
· Assist with conflict resolution and customer escalations when needed
Sales Performance & Customer Experience
· Help drive sales performance and customer satisfaction
· Support execution of promotions, merchandising initiatives, and seasonal programs
· Monitor customer interactions to ensure a high-level guest experience
· Assist in implementing operational and sales improvement strategies
Inventory & Operational Coordination
· Support inventory organization, replenishment, and merchandise flow
· Coordinate communication between retail operations and warehouse teams
· Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency
· Help identify operational challenges and recommend solutions
Operational Administration
· Assist with labor management and scheduling efficiency
· Support compliance with company policies and operational procedures
· Maintain strong communication with leadership regarding operational needs and concerns
· Participate in special projects, events, and operational initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
· 3–5+ years of retail management or leadership experience
· Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
· Experience managing employees in a customer-facing environment
· Ability to multitask and perform effectively under pressure
· Strong operational awareness and attention to detail
· Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
· Experience with POS systems, inventory management, and scheduling platforms preferred

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and move throughout store and warehouse environments as needed.
Work Environment
This is an on-site leadership position based in Washington, D.C. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is required based on operational needs.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
