Join the Royal Botanic Garden as a Retail Supervisor
Step into a role where you’ll lead the daily operations of our beautiful Garden Shop, making every visitor’s experience warm, memorable, and aligned with the values of the Royal Botanic Garden. You’ll help drive sales, support your team on the shop floor, and keep the store running smoothly—making sure presentation, service quality, and product knowledge are always at their best.
You’ll balance the day‑to‑day running of the store with developing your team, building great customer relationships, managing suppliers and stock, and navigating the fast‑paced nature of retail in a busy visitor destination. Every day brings something different—whether it’s supporting staff, solving issues, or keeping operations moving during peak times.

What you will bring to the role
- Flexibility to work a roster of Tuesday–Saturday OR Sunday–Thursday
- Experience leading or supervising in retail—ideally in a cultural, lifestyle, tourism, or similar environment.
- Strong customer service focus, with the confidence to support a team and create a welcoming, positive experience for every visitor.
- Ability to manage daily retail operations, including stock, sales reporting, rostering, and store presentation.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, fast‑paced setting where priorities can change quickly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate others.
- Confidence in handling customer enquiries, resolving issues, and building repeat relationships.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong attention to detail and commitment to store standards.
What is an essential requirement:
- Required to undertake work as a non-continuous shift worker on a rostered basis including weekdays, weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
