Description & Expectations
We are searching for an experienced RF Circuit Designer to join our R&D team.
Our technology combines UAVs with specialized RF payloads that enable precise spectrum monitoring, emitter detection, and RF validation to support calibration, testing, and operational readiness of EW, SATCOM, and radar systems for defense and commercial applications.
In this role, you will take the lead on all RF design activities, including the development of transceiver front-ends and the design and selection of critical RF components such as amplifiers, oscillators, and mixers. You will be responsible for prototyping, testing, and integrating these designs while working closely with other engineering teams to deliver reliable, compact, lightweight, and power-efficient solutions.
We are looking for a candidate with the initiative and motivation to take ownership of their work and drive progress within their area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
Your day-to-day is likely to include:
- Define and implement complete RF transceiver front-end chains, including low-noise amplifiers, band-select and image-reject filters, mixer/downconverter stages, LO generation, and intermediate frequency (IF) outputs.
- Optimize cascaded performance (gain, noise figure, linearity, dynamic range) to meet stringent SATCOM and ELINT signal requirements.
- Design of RF components such as amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, filters, couplers, and antennas.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts optimized for high-frequency performance.
- Select appropriate components and materials (low-loss substrates, shielding strategies, etc.).
- Perform S-parameter, EM, and harmonic balance simulations to predict real-world performance.
- Build and test prototypes using instruments like: Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes with RF probes
- Help define and execute the RF development strategy by identifying when to leverage internal resources vs. external suppliers for circuit design, fabrication, and RF module production – balancing cost, capability, time, and risk.
- Document design trade-offs related to SWaP constraints, including justification for component choices and mechanical integration strategies.
- Work with mechanical and robotics engineers to integrate RF modules into Payloads, and ensure impedance matching, proper shielding, and thermal management within constrained mechanical designs.
- Collaborate with firmware/software teams for control and signal processing aspects. Prepare documentation for EMI/EMC compliance testing and certification and ensure designs meet industry standards (e.g., FCC, ETSI, MIL-STD).
-
Skills & Experience
We envision that you have a bachelor or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field and 4+ years of professional experience working with RF/microwave systems and high-speed PCB design in relevant industries (e.g. SATCOM, defense, telecom).
In addition, you bring:
- Proven experience in RF circuit design across both system-level architecture and hands-on implementation
- Practical knowledge of RF/microwave system design, including both receiver and transmitter chains.
- Experience selecting and integrating key RF components such as amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, and filters.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary engineering teams and communicate clearly with both software and hardware specialists.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently in an R&D-focused environment.
- Fluency in English, both written and orally.
Additionally, it is a plus if you have:
- Prior work with SWaP-constrained platforms, such as UAVs, CubeSats, or embedded defense systems.
- Experience in developing and testing RF systems for SATCOM or defense applications, including compliance with MIL-STD or ETSI standards.
- Hands-on experience with simulation tools (e.g. ADS, HFSS, AWR) and RF lab equipment (e.g. VNA, spectrum analyzers).
- An understanding of EMC/EMI considerations in compact or mission-critical environments.
- Experience working with external RF design houses, contract manufacturers, or rapid prototyping vendors.
All candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance with the Danish Defense/NATO.
Our Dynamic Work Environment:
At Quadsat, you will join a diverse team of innovative colleagues who are passionate about working with innovation and new technology development. We have the freedom to make decisions - and the room to innovate, meaning you can make a big impact with your work. As we continue to experience high growth, there are ample opportunities for career advancement and skill development as the company expands.
Quadsat regularly hosts company-sponsored social activities and team bonding events after work to strengthen our team dynamics and relationships.
In the Product Creation department, you will join a team of driven and innovative engineers, with specialties in robotics, mechanical, software, and RF.
We have a passionate team of dedicated engineers looking to drive innovation in the antenna test and measurement industry.
