The Role
Are you a dedicated Risk professional ready to make a meaningful impact? We’re looking for a Risk Manager to lead the development and embedment of a robust, fit-for-purpose Risk Management Framework that not only meets regulatory standards—including CPS 230—but also drives real value across the business.
You’ll provide Line 2 oversight, challenge, assurance, and strategic advice, partnering closely with teams to embed a strong, proactive risk culture. You’ll also champion the use of our Governance, Risk & Compliance system, helping to streamline processes and elevate risk visibility.
What you’ll do
- Conduct and maintain enterprise and business unit risk profiles by leading structured assessments, identifying key controls, and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Support the identification of emerging risks and scenario planning to inform strategic decision-making.
- Undertake control testing and assurance reviews to assess the effectiveness of key controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators, escalating trends or issues that may impact the organisation’s risk profile.
- Contribute to regular reporting to the Executive, NGS Board, and Risk, Audit & Compliance Committee, including insights on emerging risks, key risk indicators, and findings.
- Provide Line 2 risk advice on new products, strategic changes, third-party arrangements, and operational resilience matters.
- Offer guidance on risk management and controls.
- Review Level 1 documentation and business consultations to ensure consistency with the Risk Management Framework.
- Act as a trusted advisor, encouraging risk-informed decision-making across day-to-day operations as well as delivering training and awareness sessions to staff.
A seasoned Risk professional with a background in Superannuation or other APRA regulated environments, you will bring proven experience in the following:
- Key risk and governance processes, such as annual Risk Management Declaration, SPS 220 reviews, policy reviews, and other strategic/regulatory reviews.
- Risk assessments covering business risk, third-party/supplier risk, project risks, Cyber, IT, information security, and data risk.
- Working in Australian regulatory practices and building and maintaining frameworks to support regulated financial services products
- Managing risk in complex environments, including developing controls, performing assurance reviews, assessing risks and controls, and issue management.
- A sound understanding of regulatory guidance, including CPS 230, SPS 220, and CPS 234.
- Stakeholder management, supporting committee and Board reporting.
- Tertiary qualification, graduate or postgraduate in a relevant discipline and/or a professional certification.
- Recognised relevant professional certification/accreditation (e.g. CPA, CA, CFA, CFP, DipFS, RG146).
- Membership of professional bodies such as the Australian Compliance Institute or the Risk Management Institute of Australia (RMIA).
We are a super fund that has an exceptional work culture, provides a diverse offering in developing our people and you can be a part of it while earning an attractive remuneration package!
Interested and suitably qualified candidates should submit a copy of their updated CV.
Please note that to be eligible for this role, you are required to have permanent Australian working rights and residency.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a workplace that values diversity, equity, and respect for all individuals.
