Robotics Engineer, Computer Vision & Robot Manipulation
Are you looking for an opportunity to play a central role in the development of perception software for new intelligent robotic systems in airport environments?
In this role, you will design and train advanced computer vision models that enable robust robotic manipulation under real-world conditions. You will work on transforming state-of-the-art research into reliable perception systems capable of handling variability in lighting, clutter, reflective surfaces, and diverse baggage types. You will work closely with our other engineers specialized in robotics to validate performance, tune models and pipelines, and support deployment and troubleshooting during tests and rollouts.
Your areas of responsibility
- Develop, implement, and optimize computer vision algorithms for robot manipulation (e.g., object detection, segmentation, pose estimation).
- Design and integrate real-time perception pipelines that provide manipulation-ready outputs from RGB, RGB-D, and/or point-cloud data.
- Apply deep learning and, where relevant, reinforcement learning to tasks such as object picking, grasping, and motion planning.
- Integrate perception with control and planning into robust, production-ready robotic systems in close collaboration with software, mechanics, electronics, and automation teams.
- Test, validate, and debug solutions in simulation and on physical robots, including field tests and commissioning in airport environments.
Your profile
- Hands-on experience with computer vision for robotics, manipulators, and/or robot arms.
- Strong experience with deep learning on RGB/RGB-D/point clouds for detection, segmentation, and pose estimation (e.g., YOLO, CenterNet, Segment Anything, FoundationPose, or similar).
- Knowledge of modern architectures such as transformers and diffusion models, and the ability to select and combine appropriate models for the task.
- Practical experience with reinforcement learning in a robotics context (preferably robot arms).
- Experience optimizing and deploying deep learning models (e.g., TensorRT) and strong programming skills in Python and ideally C++.
- Familiarity with relevant libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, PCL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, TensorBoard, or similar.
- Experience integrating algorithms into end-to-end robotic software architectures (perception, behavioral planning, and motion planning) and delivering production-ready systems.
- You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken; Danish is a plus.
The ideal candidate has an analytical and structured approach to complex technical challenges and is comfortable taking technical ownership. You can work independently when needed, while also thriving in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You are curious about new research and enjoy translating scientific papers and prototype code into robust, maintainable solutions. Above all, you are goal-oriented, ambitious, and a supportive team player who shares knowledge openly.
You will report to Anders Højholdt Daugaard, R&D Director and be a part of our R&D Department.
